POWER TEAM CITY OUTREACH UPDATE
|
|
To kick-off its 2007 charity campaign, The POWer Team started the year with a combined contribution of $2,100 to three Ohio Valley Salvation Army Posts. The team presented checks for $700 each to The Salvation Army’s Jefferson, Belmont and Brooke/Hancock County posts.
In March, POWer Team Members attended the Salvation Army of Jefferson County’s Style Show and Luncheon, where they made another financial contribution. Additionally, managers and staff members from four POWer Team branches purchased mints and nuts and assembled party favors for the Wellsburg Salvation Army’s Easter Dinner in April.
Working for another worthy cause, the POWer Team signed on as one of the major sponsors of the Brooke County Relay for Life. The event took place June 22 and 23 on the campus of Indian Creek High School in Wintersville, Ohio, where the team helped to raise $1,050 to help fight cancer. Team members collected funds through conducting a bake sale and raffle and also by selling bracelets and faith/hope necklaces.
On July 29, the POWer team held its major fundraiser of the year, a car show at the Fort Steuben Mall. Auto enthusiasts were encouraged to enter their vehicles in the show or to check out the hot rods on display. All proceeds were administered to local Salvation Army posts.
Throughout the remainder of the year, the POWer Team scheduled several events in which team members volunteered their time to make a difference in the lives of others. These included the September 8 American Heart Association Walk, a Thanksgiving food drive for Mingo Junction Community Services, packing food bags for the Brooke County Salvation Army, which were distributed Thanksgiving and Christmas, wrapping gifts for the Jefferson County Salvation Army and bell ringing for the Belmont County Salvation Army.
In continuing efforts, members of Parkvale Bank’s POWer Team raises funds for their charitable efforts by selling chocolate candy in each member-branch. As customers conduct their banking at a teller window, they are encouraged to purchase the candy products and contribute to a good cause. As of early June 2007, the team collected more than $2,000 for the year.
